Hello fellow redditors, after suffering from IBS for three years I have decided to dedicate the next few months to putting myself in remission or at the very least bringing my IBS to a manageable level. This guide will entail my background, what has worked in reducing my symptoms, what I think caused my IBS, and my current treatment regimen. My story: Although I've had a sensitive gut for as long as I remember, I first noticed something was wrong with me Junior year in high school when I began to experience hypersensitivity, loose stools, and worst of all loud abdominal noises. All the tests came back negative from my GI and I learned to live around my symptoms. Things weren't that bad at first, I only had symptoms in the morning and only when I was in quiet classrooms. I continued to live normally assuming that my problems couldn't get any worse and that they would revolve themselves eventually. This was a mistake. Over the past three years since then my intestinal health has gotten gradually worse to the point where my symptoms and anxiety stemming from them control my life.
