10-19-2004, 09:47 PM #1 Banned Anyone try tanning pills (the kind w/canthaxanthin)? anyone try tanning pills that contain canthaxanthin? canthaxanthin is what makes carrots u ingest large amounts, it gets deposited all over the body including skin, giving it a brownish orangish color. it also tans organs, such a brain and liver but supposedly it looks like real, natural tan u get from being in the u dont take too much to make u orange. im guessing they prolly dont work very well since they've been around for a while but not many people know about them. (usually anything that is effective everyone knows about, e. g. creatine, whey). but anyways, anyone try canthaxanthin based tanning pills? better yet, any before/after pics of what a canthaxanthin tan looks like(tried google - no luck)? im afraid its gonna make me orange and ill look like an oompa-loompa D: check this out: 10-19-2004, 10:10 PM #2 I never understood why people are so intent on getting tan, I guess they think they are gana get hoes faster, but I guess girls do the same with makeup and highheals.

I really got into anti-oxidents and I was taking probably too much and I noticed a definite orange yellow change especially in my hands and even a little in the whites of my eyes. but I do know canthaxanthin is used on animals not to helpfull but whatever. o ya I get taned when Im about to go on a long fishing trip or im going to the desert so I dont get burned. Canthaxanthin is a dye that is similar to the chemical that makes carrots orange. It occurs naturally and can also be made in a laboratory. People use it as medicine. Canthaxanthin is used to reduce sensitivity to sunlight ( photosensitivity) experienced by people who have a rare genetic disease called erythropoietic protoporphyria (EPP). In these people, sunlight can cause skin reactions such as rash, itch, and eczema. Canthaxanthin is also used to reduce sun sensitivity caused by certain medications and other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support these uses. Orobronze (canthaxanthin) is sold in Canada as a nonprescription "tanning pill. " In the U. S., the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not approved tanning pills containing canthaxanthin.
